Happy 4th Anniversary!

Not only did we celebrate Valentines day in February, but ten days earlier we celebrated our four-year anniversary! It is so amazing how fast time flies and how much takes place in just a few short years. I am so blessed to have married my best friend!

Priscilla’s Family Comes for a Visit:DavidLovesPriscilla15

We were blessed to have Priscilla’s parents and two of her brothers visit over Christmas and New Years. They took most of the time to work on the house that the Lord has provided for us.

Priscilla’s mother was such a help with the children!DavidLovesPriscilla17 We are so blessed to have Godly grandparents for our children!

Dad Keller insisted on making sure we have a good gate installed well.DavidLovesPriscilla16

He also made sure that the shed was secured with all of the holes patched up.DavidLovesPriscilla02DavidLovesPriscilla01

Priscilla’s two brothers, Nathan and David were able to stay a short time to help us with projects on the house while her parents returned home.
DavidLovesPriscilla03 We went to get some all-you-can-eat Pizza and after working hard all day, we definitely got our money’s worth of pizza.

We also took time to have fun playing a game of disc golf at a nearby course on a sunny afternoon or playing some tennis. DavidLovesPriscilla26

Kitchen Make-Over

One of the most important rooms to any house is the kitchen. It is generally the center of activity several times each day. Mealtimes are wonderful times to cut the distractions and spend time together. DavidLovesPriscilla06

When we first got to the house, the only thing that was in the kitchen was a dishwasher that absolutely reeked, and a floor that was partially tiled.DavidLovesPriscilla22

After chipping up the tile, there was a layer of linoleum over part of it. Priscilla’s brother Nathan worked hard to chip that up as well.
DavidLovesPriscilla23

We did some framing  as well as a lot of sheetrock. Then a large amount of mudding and painting had to be done. DavidLovesPriscilla24

David’s sister took time away from her ministry in a prison down in Florida and came up to help us with painting and mudding. There was a special texture that she was able to match that looks like stucco, so she was able to make the new walls blend in with the existing style. DavidLovesPriscilla32

We were able to get a good deal on pre-finished 3/4″ hickory on a Black Friday sale last year.DavidLovesPriscilla34

A really sweet family came over and showed us how to lay the wood flooring. They also helped get the room laid out the way it should be and get the project started.DavidLovesPriscilla35

The work went much faster than I expected and the result was so satisfying. DavidLovesPriscilla36

More to Come:

DavidLovesPriscilla33

Amazing progress was made during their visit, but unfortunately, projects almost always turn out more time consuming and more expensive than we estimate. It is just part of the challenge with working on a remodeling project.

DavidLovesPriscilla28

David has done some of the electrical on the new construction parts of the house.DavidLovesPriscilla27

David’s brother, Sam has done a lot of the plumbingDavidLovesPriscilla21

David’s sisters, Sarah and Rebecca have done a lot of the patching and painting along with Priscilla.DavidLovesPriscilla25

When all is done, it is just beautiful! It will look so much more like home when we are able to move our furniture in. DavidLovesPriscilla31 Paul and Davia really enjoy time with their cousin Abby.

Davia enjoys playing with her little doll and has so many crazy hair days.DavidLovesPriscilla29
Paul and Davia are great playmates and really enjoy the beautiful weather that has allowed them to take time at the park.

What a season this has been of enjoying life together as we make a house into a home and settle into life here in East Texas.
