Rebecca is in Heaven

Posted by on Oct 2, 2019 in Featured | 97 comments

With heavy hearts, we received a phone call today that David’s youngest sister, Rebecca went home to heaven today, October 2, at around 8:30am. The twenty-two years of life that God gave us with her seem so short, but in light of eternity all of our lives are short. The most important thing is a relationship with Jesus Christ that Rebecca evidenced by the fruit of her life. She is in heaven today, not because she was a good person, but because she trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. The instant her car was struck, she passed from earth to heaven and is in the presence of the Lord.

Rebecca lived a very full life packing every minute with meaningful activity. Most recently, Rebecca worked for UPS at the airport terminal along with a full load of nursing school studies. Her day typically started in the very early hours of the morning. It was just a few weeks ago that our little family got to tour the facility where she worked and hear her coworkers tell of her diligent work ethic, can-do attitude and yet her gentle kindness that she demonstrated towards them. All of David’s younger siblings served at this same terminal at one point or another.

Ministry Mind Set

Over the past several years, David and Rebecca shared many work hours in the ministry where David works. She was his secretary and helped run many conferences from little known capacities behind the scenes and in the office.

God blessed us with so many wonderful times of serving the Lord together. In July of this year, Rebecca volunteered for a week for the job she once did on a regular basis a few years ago. It brought back so many memories of fun times serving the Lord together.

House Building Project

One of the things we have been praising the Lord for is how He arranged this Summer for so many of us to come up and help with building David’s parents a home. This gave us ample time to be together with Rebecca and work along side of her.

Family Time

Our children were blessed with Rebecca’s love and kindness through her many hours of babysitting, coming over for special days or events, or attending church with our family over the past few years.

So many fun memories that we will treasure for years to come.

We are a very close family and her loss will be deeply felt by all. We also have experienced an outpouring of love and support by so many. Thank you! We treasure each text message, email, and kind word shared with us. Feel free in the comments below to share special memories you have of Rebecca and ways she blessed your life. We will keep you updated with further arrangements.

Beautiful woman of God,Putting others before herself, loving and genuinely caring about those around her!

I can not explain the the sadness I feel or the peace in knowing that all those who trust in the Savior that Rebecca did will see her in heaven!

  41. Dear Waller Family,
I was in the same nursing cohort at Inver Hills Community College as your daughter/sister, although in a different section. I wish I had gotten to know Rebecca better. She was a bright light on campus. Everyone could see that she was different, and I knew her shining countenance was because Jesus was her savior. May you be comforted by God in your affliction and sorrow.
    Grace and peace to you,
    Pamela

We know that you will miss her tremendously. No one can take her place. we rejoice in the fact that she knows her Savior and that the Bible says that the death of His saints is precious in His sight. Words cannot express the deep, deep sorrow we feel with you with Rebecca’s passing from this temporal life into her eternal home. On the other hand, what a homecoming she must be having with her brother! Rebecca, what an energy giver she was! Rest assured that God’s timing is always perfect, even if we don’t understand it at the present moment. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

    With tender regards, Amanda

  66. My husband drove the pickup in this accident. He is OK. But, our hearts just break for you. We have been wondering how her family is doing. The tears are running down my face as I write this. We SO know how you feel. We buried our beautiful, ( in n every way) daughter, Kristina in April. Many, many hugs to you and yours.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

    • Dear Mrs. Setering, we were so relieved to hear that your husband is okay. Today, we went to the site of the accident, we saw the skid marks, the painted lines on the road indicating what took place where. We also went to the yard where both vehicles were: Your truck and my sisters car. God clearly took my sister home and miraculously left your husband here. We love you all even though we have not met you. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter this April. It was an answer to our prayer to hear that your husband is okay. We will pray for a speedy recovery. Thank you for your kind words of sympathy at the loss we feel so deeply. God’s grace has been evident to us and so much love has been poured out to us. We were so blessed to have her these 22 years.

      • The two above post have sweetly broken and encouraged my heart. I’m so sorry for the pain you ALL are in, and will pray for both families. You have encouraged me so, when I came here to offer a prayer of encouragement to YOU.

  67. Rebecca Christine Waller.  What a kind, humble, joyful, fun-loving, servant-hearted girl!

I think my favorite memories with Rebecca are from this summer in Big Sandy after a Family Conference at the end of July. Several of us had a fun evening laughing, talking, racing golf carts to the sand volleyball courts, picking weeds, playing volleyball, watching Rebecca do “wheelies” in a wheelchair and eating dinner in the dining hall together.

The calm confidence she displayed in her job as stage right, was always reassuring.  She was detailed enough to be on top of her job, but calm and patient enough to make you feel at ease.

A memory from Toccoa: Rebecca sharing Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish from the sound booth.

I’m still trying to fully grasp the fact that she is gone.  How amazing and comforting to know that she is in the presence of Jesus right now!
Praying for your sweet family as you grieve the loss of a sister, daughter and aunt.  But rejoicing with you at her promotion to heaven!

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Ps. 116:15

“For the child of God, death is not a period, it’s a comma.” –Adrian Rogers

“It has pleased God to take from us one exceedingly dear to us and we must be resigned to His holy will. Thus is link by link of the strong chain broken that binds us to earth and smoothes our passage to another world.
Oh that we may be at last united in that haven of rest, where trouble and sorrow never enter.” -Robert E. Lee (at the death of his daughter-in-law)

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Rev 21:4

So many people. Praying much for you and all the family.

  74. There is a hole in our hearts, because Rebecca Waller was always there for everyone, to fill our hearts with joy, and positivity. 🥰 Rebecca would go out of her way, countless times, to lift people up, and inspire greatness. 💪 I miss your voice Rebecca, and your humor, and want to fill the void in my heart with a lively conversation with you, however you are out of reach for a little while. 😭 You are with Jesus now, and getting ready for the next stage in your eternal life with God. 😇

  75. Priscilla and David. Praying for your family . I am sorry to hear of the loss of your sister.

  76. Brian and Sue and all of you dear ones that we have not connected with in such a long while. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter! Or hearts are bleeding for you even though we’ve never met Rebecca. She looks like such a dear girl and servant of the Lord. We know she is right now enjoying the splendor of the Lord’s presence and the wonder of inexpressible joy with the Lord and all those who have gone before, but our hearts are ripped up for your loss on earth. What a tragedy! We will be in prayer for All you often.

  77. I am just an occasional reader of your blog and didn’t know Rebecca, but I felt moved to offer my condolences to you and your family. Remembering the grief of Jesus at the death of his friend Lazarus, may you be consoled by His words to Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.”

  78. Deepest, heartfelt sympathy from the Ericksons. We are heart-broken. We are praying for peace and comfort for you all. We love you!!

  79. I met Rebecca at the Fall 2017 In The Gap graduation. Although we only met that one time, I was struck by her sweet spirit and willingness to make new friends. I am praying for you all, that God’s faithfulness will sustain you like only He can.

  80. Mr. David Waller and Family, Please accept my deepest sympathies on the tragic loss of your beloved sister, Rebecca. We had the pleasure to briefly meet when you came to visit UPS/Airport with your family. (I was the lady with the candy box when I saw your adorable children). I can’t begin to express how deeply saddened we all were when they told us the news the next day. In such an active environment, we worked silently as we thought about her. Many in complete disbelief. I had even worked alongside with your sister Sarah just last week, and we talked about her and Rebecca’s schooling and becoming nurses. At the time, I thought what a perfect choice with their personalities – smart, caring, considerate. You and your family have so much to be proud of for how purposeful you live each and every day of your life. So glad you had spent so much quality time this past summer as evidenced in your photos above. Please know the UPS Airport work family are grieving with you and keeping you in thoughts and prayers during this time. We will miss her SO much! Your sister Rebecca was a beautiful angel on earth, and now in God’s heaven.

  81. I am so sorry. The Lord knows what He is doing, but it breaks the heart. May He give you all a double portion of His grace and mercy and He walks with you through this hand in hand.,

  82. So many precious memories of our times interwoven with your family in Mongolia, and being there for Isaac’s funeral, and having you to our Homes in Gachuurt several times, and you hosting us on deputation in 2008 in Chicago.
Rebecca was one who stood out to me, even those many years ago when she was young… close in age to our Amaris, and shares her name with my only sister. We have always admired your close knit family and zeal in serving Jesus with all your time and energies.
Having just lost my dearest Mother July 12th, I can imagine Rebecca coming up to greet her and say, “You look like someone I met in Mongolia”, and find out she was Anita Morley’s mom!! We miss her so much, but as with your response to the sad news of this tragic accident, we are so glad to KNOW she is in the arms of Jesus, free from this world’s cares and temptations and pain.

  83. I am so sorry for your loss. Rebecca was a sweet loving person to be around. I remember a sweet memory with her 4 years ago at Derrick and Jennifer rehearsal. We were standing in the way back of the kitchen together cutting up fudge and chatting. I was able to get a picture with her and I so glad I did! She was a beautiful woman inside and out and she will be missed greatly. I’m still trying to comprehend her death. I am praying God gives you the comfort and peace as you walk through this in the days, months and years ahead. She is in a better place. She will be missed by all!! Love you Wallers!

  87. Dear Waller family,
God’s Word is our anchor in this time. I am reminding myself of this as I find myself almost speechless to console or adequately express my heart felt sympathies for you all in this time. I am comforted by Psalms 63 and extend this you all.

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”” John 11:25-26

  88. Rebecca is very very loved when she was with IBLP Korea in Pungmu-dong, Gimpo, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. I remember conversing with her, where she never missed giving me, a foreign Korean to her, her consistent trustworthy acceptance. She was a good team in developing the Character Curriculum leaflet for the Korean Christians. I miss her gentle light shining from her inner contentment in Jesus. Looking for her in her family was one of my first thing to do – like my mother did for me, as the youngest of six children. But I wished I had been as reliable to my mother as Rebecca was to all of us.

    In prayer,

    Jung Sook and Abe

  89. Dear Waller family,
Thank you so much for sharing the service live online for those of us who could not attend in person. We have wept with you over this loss and will continue to pray for you all. Rebecca has blessed several of my daughters with her friendship in many ways and also through Lydia. May God continue to comfort and strengthen you during this difficult time.

  90. We just read about Rebecca, and are so sorry for your tremendous loss. We can only imagine how difficult this must be. Praying the Lord will give your family His peace that passes all understanding.
